Diabetic Retinopathy Services

What services are available?

In line with national requirements, every person with Diabetes has the opportunity to have their eyes screened annually for Diabetic Retinopathy, an eye condition related to Diabetes.

How can I access this service?

The programme is run centrally by Sandwell & West Midlands CCG. Patients should receive a letter every 12 months, inviting them to make a screening appointment.

If for any reason you do not receive a letter, please contact the Surgery and advise them.

Where are the services provided?

Diabetic Retinopathy Screening is provided by registered optometrists, who are based in high street opticians throughout Sandwell. Please see below a list of optometrists who are registered to provide this service.

When are the services available?

Diabetic Retinopathy Screening is generally provided during normal working hours at the registered optometrists, and usually works by appointment system only.
